Project Charter Development is one of the critical tasks that a good Project Manager is expected to perform in collaboration with Project Sponsor and other critical stakeholders.

 

Here are some of the Organisational Process Assets that can influence Project Charter Development for any project.

 

#1 Organisational Policies

Organizational standard policies, processes, and procedures can contribute to the development of the Project Charter. It will allow the Project Manager, Sponsor or whoever is creating the project Charter to follow the policies and procedures in order to have a workable document.

When repairing project charter, the organization needs to look at all Monitoring and controlling documents that they have put in place. It will allow the organization to put measures in place in order to address all deviations that might come up in the course of planning or executing the project.

The Project Manager or whoever is creating the Project Charter also has to check whether there are Project Charter templates that have been developed for creating an effective project charter. If there in none, he will have to create one in collaboration with other stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts.

During Project Charter Development, the Project Manager or Sponsor also has to take into consideration some of the Governance frameworks that are in place to control organizational projects. This includes how performance will be evaluated, how issues will be identified or resolved, how changed will be managed among others.

 

#5 Historical Information

The creators also need to look at the lesson learned repository of the organization. They have to determine whether the organization had done something similar before. They must determine what factors influenced project decisions in the past. They must consider the overall past project performance of the organization.
