Analysing Product Ownership in Project Transition Plans

Analyzing Product Ownership in Project Transition Plans

Product Ownership refers to a condition where everyone in the project claims to understand the roles and responsibilities assigned to them. A sense of ownership in employees can be achieved by clearly defining there roles and responsibilities and making them accountable for the tasks they are expected to do.

A typical example of Product Ownership

You are the Project Manager for a corporate intranet project and during the execution phase, the Software Tester, Samson, fell ill and has taken a week off. To keep the project going without any hassle, you decide to bring in another Software Tester to replace Samson.

In the meantime, Joyce, from the Integration and Testing department volunteers to take up Samson’s work. The roles and responsibilities defined by the management for the integration and Testing personnel also involve software testing besides other responsibilities. You appreciate Samson for his sense of responsibility and ownership of taking up the job of a Software Tester.
