How To Transition From Project Planning To Implementation

As you moved from planning to implementation of your project, it is time to start leveraging on the plan that you have made earlier in the project.

This is also the stage where you will identify the purpose and components of directing and managing multiple project execution.

planning to implementation

At this stage, you have to coordinate people and resources to carry out the project plan. This can be compared to conducting musicians in an orchestra. Note that effectively directing and managing the project execution ensures that the project team starts and finishes the project work according to the project management plan.

Throughout the lifecycle of a project, various reviews occur. As the project moves from one planning phase to the executing and controlling phase, it is important that a review meeting is conducted. During the meeting, several items need to be verified in order to be sure that they are complete.

#1 Role Verification

All roles and skills have been identified, all required resources are available and committed to the project, and high standard items for the project also need to be verified for accuracy and correctness.

#2 Project Documents

All Project documents have been completed, reviewed, and signed off on, which includes: the business, functional, and technical requirements, the project charter, the scope statement, all project plans as well as the Statement of work for the project.

#3 Planning issues

The Project Manager also has to ensure that all issues that have to do with the planning stage have been resolved. He has to make sure that nobody is in doubt as far as what the project set to achieve is concerned. He must have discussed with the stakeholders concerning what is covered or not covered in the project.

#4 Project Feasibility

As the project is starting out, there is a need for you to confirm whether the project is still feasible or not. This is due to the fact that planning takes a lot of time. There might be some assumptions that you have made while planning that are no longer relevant. You need to update that before execution starts on your project.

#5 Stakeholders Expectation

Before you start the project, you have to ensure that the expectation of the stakeholders is aligned with the project plan. After you might have gathered stakeholder requirements during the planning stage of the project, now that you are able to execute the project. You have to make sure that you have planned enough in order to deliver what the stakeholders are actually looking for.
