Examining Skill Acquisition for Projects
Successful completion of a project requires team members with the right skills, knowledge, and ability to deliver product deliverables. Project Managers must identify from the resource pool the ideal individual for the team. Skill Acquisition for projects is an approach that is used to obtain resources for the project where there is not enough staff within the project team or organization to complete the project.
Typical Example…
You ordered a cedar shake roof for the new house you are building. The roofing contractor calls you with a dilemma. They have a roofer who specializes in constructing cedar shake roofs, but he is in high demand. Before the schedule can be finalized, the contractor attempts to confirm the availability of this roofer for the week that your house is scheduled for roofing.
Unfortunately, the roofer is already booked to construct a roof on another house that week. It is possible for the senior roofer to supervise two crews but roofing will take eight or ten days instead of five days. The roofing contractor acquires one more senior resource on contract from the market to compensate for the unavailability of the internal staff.
Now your take on this argument.
