#2 Differences

Another major cause of conflicts for projects is when there are differences in objectives, values, and perceptions. This happens when the project team members find it difficult towards a common vision or they are busy pursuing personal goals.

#3 Disagreements

When there are Disagreements about role requirements, work activities and individual approaches to project requirements, there are bound to be conflicts. From the onset of the project, the team members and the project manager have to agree on the best approach to the project as well as what they wanted to achieve at the end of the project.

#4 Communication breakdown

Another major cause of project conflicts is communication breakdown. When the team members are not able to receive updates or the channels opened for communications are no longer effective. It might lead to a situation where rumours are permitted on the project.

Characteristics of  conflicts

Project managers should be aware of certain characteristics of conflict that will help them effectively handle conflicts when they arise. Conflicts are a normal aspect of working in a team and forced the need for exploring alternatives. It is a team aspect and openness about the situation or opinions can resolve conflicts.

While resolving conflicts, the focus should be on the issues and not on individuals in the present situation and not on the past.
