Before we deliver into what security is all about, we first of all need to understand what a network is. With a good understanding of network and how a network works, you cannot attack or secure a network. If you stay with me on this blog, I am going to show you all you need to know in order to become a Network Security Expert and become a network security administrator and understand Network Security Architecture. Follow me as we will be looking at all that in this article.
What is a network?
A network is a way computers or other devices communicate. It happens when two computers or other devices have to share resources together. You might have an office where all your employees use one printer. When that happens, they are all connected to a network.
The network consist of machines that you want to communicate together. These devices might be connected together through a wire such as a Cat 5 cable or the connection might be connected through a Wi-fi connection which has become a normal and common connection these days. Each computer has what is called a Network Interface Card which comes with these devices, this allows them to connect to the internet.
When devices want to connect to a network, they need to connect through a hub or switch. All these devices have a port that these devices can connect to. Most times, we also have a device called a router. When you have to connect two or more networks together, you have to make use of a router.
